Jagriti Yatra | D +2

Like any other day, Day 3 (26.12.2014) too started early for me. But there is an advantage in waking up early in train, one need not stand in queue to occupy the toilets. We even had our fire drill in the morning at Dharwad station. Its for the first time, food is been served to us on the railway platform. After our breakfast, we had our DHISHA team who guide us to the busses which would take us to our first role model visit. I was with Mathew from France in the bus and he pronounced my name correctly. If you are wondering why I am explicitly mentioning a French pronouncing my name correctly, you must read this .

After an hour of ride over scenic roads of Karnataka, we reached Kalkeri Sangeeth Vidyalaya (KSV), Where we would be doing our role model case study on SELCO. After boarding down from the bus, we had to do a mini trek to reach there. The sweet voices of little kids singing together in sync welcomed us and It feels really awesome to start our day with music like that, really refreshing.

Then, we had presentations from Mr. Sendhil A Kumar and his colleague from SELCO. They explained various things about Solar Energy, Sustainability, the social Impact made by their company in rural areas, their pricing model, etc. It was very interesting to listen to them.

Then, we ware divided into groups and was shown around various solar energy projects which have been implemented in KSV by SELCO. We had Mr Paresh & Mr First Employee (sorry I forgot his name), both from SELCO, they took us through each one of them, explained clearly and answered all our queries patiently.

Post lunch, we had a Q&A session by Mr. Sendhil A Kumar and Mr Adam ( current person in charge of KSV). I should really thank the kids who performed Flute, Vocals, Sitar renditions and  awesome dance performances. It really made the evening memorable, such a talented kids.

It was a great surprise to me when we are back to train and my fav Dhokla is been served for snacks. We have a great catering team in train who work very hard and cook awesome food for us everyday. My sincere thanks to them too.

Later, we had our group meeting where we shared our thoughts on the day’s role model visits and our personal life events. And I could see our cohort  started bonding really well. We were woke up till late night discussing poetry and personal lives.

Will be visiting Bangalore tomorrow and it’s gonna be a yet another amazing day ahead.
